Term 2024Z:
The most important psychological theories explaining the mechanisms of mental disorders will be presented, such as: psychoanalysis, object relations theory, attachment theory, humanistic-existential approaches, behavioral approach, cognitive approach, systemic approach and others. Each concept will be discussed due to the basic assumptions about: (1) normal course of development and psychological functioning, (2) health and mental disorder, (3) factors disrupting the development and course of abnormal mental development, (4) mechanisms of mental change as a starting point for psychotherapeutic interventions. |

1) Knowledge about:
- mechanisms of mental disorders,
- definitions of health and mental disorders,
- normal human development and risk factors for disorders,
- leading approaches in psychotherapy,
- healing factors in the course of psychotherapy.
2) Attitudes:
- criticism of discussed concepts.
3) Skills:
- understanding the meaning of basic concepts in psychopathology,
- application to practice: diagnosis, planning of psychotherapeutic interventions.
