Learning outcomes
Knowledge. Student:
- describes the basic problems of functioning of families with a disabled child
- lists the coping strategies used by mothers and fathers of children with disabilities
- knows the concepts describing the adaptations of parents to raise a child with a disability
- lists the difficulties associated with the work of a child therapist with a disability
- describes individual parental attitudes
- defines the system paradigm of family functioning.
Attitude. Student:
- recognizes areas where support for families of children with disabilities is most needed
- sees his own strengths and weaknesses as a future specialist in contact with families of children with disabilities
- takes into account the methodological diversity of research on the situation of families of children with disabilities in formulating conclusions.
Skills. Student:
- chooses an adequate strategy for dealing with parents with different attitudes
- uses systemic thinking in describing the situation of families of children with disabilities
- develops awareness of their difficulties in contact with families with specific attitudes
- shows the ability to interview a parent of a child with a disability
- illustrates his ability to plan activities for the siblings of children with disabilities.
