Psychological profiling - a method of an unknown suspect identification 2500-PL-PS-SP304-13

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the "methodology of 4 steps of profiling" of an unknown perpetrator of the crime. Students will practice the stages of conceptualizing the case of an unknown perpetrator to learn about the most important challenges and how to deal with them.
The location / object / trace of the criminal event / act provides the information on which psychological profiling is based. Securing technical physical traces and evidence is one part of the investigative work, the other important element is classifying the clinical triad and clarifying the psychological traces. The ability to formulate and verify diagnostic hypotheses as well as the differential psychological diagnosis is an indispensable competence in the psychological profiling of an unknown person, requiring lifelong learning.
There are various ways to investigate the relationship of a crime with the perpetrator. During the profiling classes, we will practice selected methods of testing these relationships. For profiling to be effective, the user must be prepared and the tool must be correct. Mastering the profiling methodology increases the correctness and enables effective communication of specialists involved in investigating the same events.
The proposed content is to broaden the phenomenological and technical workshop of those people who in the future will develop psychological opinions for the use of law enforcement agencies and the judiciary.
