The aim of the class is to give the students an overview of psychological situation of young children and their families from both developmental and clinical perspective. The course is focussed on the issues of mental development in infancy, toddlerhood and pre-school age, the most common developmental and clinical problems, as well as various forms of psychological intervention and services addressed to children and families. |

A student:
- describes psychological situation of young children and their families from developmental - clinical perspective
- characterizes and analyzes typical clinical problems in infancy, toddlerhood and preschool age within the framework of different theoretical approaches (e.g. interpersonal, interactive-cognitive, etc.)
-explains mechanisms of disorders in terms of various theories of psychopathology
- recognizes ethical issues realted to psychological assessment and therapy of young children and theor families
- prepares an outline of developmental interview
- prepares an outline of observation
- analyzes observational, video-recorded data with reference to theories of psychopathology
- critically evaluates own hypotheses and shows sensitivity to ethical challenges
- understands the need for interdisciplinary collaboration
