"You will be introduced to key theoretical approaches in family therapy and the skills and techniques associated with them. I will describe and analyze the field of family therapy, covering its history, schools, and developments. Ideas and methods from family therapy have been influential in psychotherapy generally. Emphasis is placed on the basic differences between the approaches of family therapy and the differences between family therapy and individual therapy. Special attention will be paid to children in families and how family dysfunction relates to children’s problems. The course will include an overview of these schools of family therapy: Psychodynamic Approach to Family Therapy If you are still hesitating whether to enrol on this course or not, during the lectures you will listen to Mariah Carey’s and Alicja Majewska’s songs - songs which we will use to investigate how popular culture reflects family therapy ideas. |
