"You will be introduced to key theoretical approaches in family therapy and the skills and techniques associated with them. I will describe and analyze the field of family therapy, covering its history, schools, and developments. Ideas and methods from family therapy have been influential in psychotherapy generally. Emphasis is placed on the basic differences between the approaches of family therapy and the differences between family therapy and individual therapy.

Special attention will be paid to children in families and how family dysfunction relates to children’s problems.
