The lecture aims to introduce the basic issues related to the subject of psychopharmacology. The issues to be discussed will include: structure and types of cell receptors with the characteristics of ion channels, basic groups of neurotransmitters and neuromodulators with their receptors, and possible effects on synaptic and cellular processes related to their operation. The basic functions of the central nervous system (CNS), their disorders and the action of psychotropic drugs in the processes of: sleep and wakefulness, learning and memory, as well as in mood disorders, depression, anxiety disorders, treatment of chronic pain, the process of pharmacotherapy of light and severe craniocerebral injuries and ADHD. |
