Term 2025L:
"This course will cover fundamental topics in sport psychology. We will address themes familiar from other psychology courses, including mental health, self-confidence and self-awareness, the role of emotions and arousal regulation, personality and other individual differences, and motivation. However, this time we will examine each of these topics within the context of sport, adopting the perspective of both the sport psychology researcher and the sport psychology practitioner. We will therefore address the following questions: Importantly, this course is a seminar. Although each session will include a standard lecture component, it will be kept brief. Most of our time will be spent in discussion, working in pairs and groups, and experiencing techniques used in sport psychology practice — while considering whether they might also be applicable outside the sporting context." |
