Statistics with R 2500-PL-PS-FS-16

"This course consists of 30 hours of workshops introducing the R programming language. Within its framework, participants will learn basic operations on data in R, such as loading data, manipulating data and joining datasets, visualizing data, and performing basic statistical tests. The course also emphasizes effective ways to independently deepen knowledge of R. Participants will be encouraged to work systematically throughout the semester through weekly homework assignments that will enable them to independently develop solutions to various problems.

Participants who complete the course will gain competence in the R programming language and will be able to independently perform basic operations and analyses. They will be able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills to analyze datasets from their own research.

Throughout the course, participants will learn to:
- Create and perform basic operations on different types of objects in R (strings, integers, numeric and Boolean)
- Create vectors, matrices, lists and data frames in R and convert one type of data structure to another
- Create their own loops and functions in R
- Load different data formats into R
- Manipulate and join datasets in R
- Create simple visualizations using the ggplot2 package
- Compute basic summary statistics
- Perform basic statistical analyses in R
- Independently look for solutions to basic problems encountered in R
- Create readable and reproducible code in accordance with good research practices"
