Knowledge
After the course student:
-knows basic, as well advanced terms connected with problematic of trauma and traumatic stress,
-understands the role of personality as well as social support in the etiology of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD),
-understands the phenomenon of posttraumatic growth (PTG) and its determinants,
-knows the most important methods of psychotherapy of PTSD and ways of promoting PTG.
Skills
After the course student:
-is able to highlight all PTSD diagnostic criteria in DSM and ICD,
-can mention about the most important PTG models,
-can critically evaluate important cultural factors, which influenced substantially the impact of trauma on human and the society.
Attitudes
After the course student:
- realize the social advantages of scientific studies on trauma and PTSD,
- is more sensitive to people after traumatic events,
- accepts also positive changes following trauma and adversity.
