Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- properly use terms related to pervasive developmental disorders,
- define these disorders,
- explain the diagnostic criteria and describe the diagnostic methods and instruments,
- compare autism and other developmental disorders
- understand and discuss the difficulties associated with autism diagnosis
- indicate the basic approaches in autism therapy and compare them with each other
- characterize the family problems associated with autism and their determinants.
He/she indicates the main features of an effective intervention and understands the value of the evidence-based approaches.
