"This course focuses on the psychological aspects of parenting in the context of migration, with particular emphasis on parent-child relationships, family well-being, and the challenges associated with acculturation stress and forced migration. It discusses selected theories of parenting and psychological mechanisms, such as social support, parental efficacy, and children’s functioning in the context of cultural change. Classes are workshop-based and focus on understanding the experiences of migrant families and interpreting them in light of psychological knowledge. An integral part of the course is the use of interviews as a tool for understanding the perspectives of people with migration experience, which supports the development of analytical skills, reflectiveness, and cultural sensitivity in the work of a psychologist." |

"KNOWLEDGE
The student knows and understands:
- selected psychological theories regarding parenting and parent–child relationships in the context of migration and cultural change;
- the psychological mechanisms underlying family functioning in migration contexts, including acculturation stress, social support, and parental efficacy;
- the importance of cultural context in understanding individual and family functioning;
- the basic ethical principles of working with individuals with migration experiences.
SKILLS
The student is able to:
- interpret the experiences of parents and children in the context of migration using psychological knowledge;
- analyze individuals’ statements and experiences in a reflective manner that takes cultural context into account;
- use interviews as a tool for understanding psychological experiences;
- formulate and present conclusions regarding the functioning of migrant families;
- integrate theoretical knowledge with observation and empirical data.
SOCIAL COMPETENCIES
The student is prepared to:
- take cultural diversity into account when understanding the experiences of individuals and families;
- conduct reflective and responsible work with individuals with migration experiences;
- adhere to principles of professional ethics and cultural sensitivity;
