(in Polish) Substancje psychoaktywne oraz ich wpływ na funkcjonowanie jednostki 2500-PL-PS-FO-41
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the fundamental issues of addiction psychology and the specifics of the most commonly encountered psychoactive substances. Students will be introduced to theoretical approaches explaining the mechanisms of addiction development, the effects of addictive substances, and the challenges faced by individuals with addiction issues, such as social stigma. The main emphasis will be placed on understanding the specifics of psychoactive substances, including their addictive potential and the consequences of long-term abuse like their effects on systems, organs, the individual's psyche, and their functioning within society. We will also discuss the latest trends in support for individuals with addiction issues, with particular emphasis on the potential roles of people in their surroundings who are not professionally involved in addiction treatment.
In addition to theoretical introduction, active student participation in discussions of relevant issues and literature will be essential, along with their ability for reflection and self-reflection. This engagement will help assess whether a student has acquired the skills and social competencies delineated in the course objectives. During the final classes, students will write a test that should help determine whether they have acquired knowledge and understand the issues of the impact of psychoactive substances and chemical addictions on the functioning of an individual. An additional benefit of the course will be its objective to foster sensitivity towards the experiences of individuals confronting addiction challenges, including the obstacles faced during addiction, treatment, and post-recovery.
