Term 2023Z:
The course will have a format of a lecture with elements of multimedia presentations and small group discussions. In his lectures the instructor will refer to his long experience of working with culturally diversified communities, as well as to his long experience in teaching psychology. Students must devote at least 78 hours of work (participation in lectures 30 hours, required readings 13 hours, weekly written assignments 13 hours). To each lecture There is a required reading available on the internet assigned to each lecture. Based on each position of the readings, and on the content of the relevant lecture, students are expected to write a short (one page long) reflection, that must be e-mailed to the instructor before the next lecture, or printed and submitted at the beginning of the next lecture. |

Learning outcomes
By participation in this course students will:
1. Acquire knowledge about sustainable development goals and about the role local communities play in their realization. They will also acquire knowledge about the role community leaders can play in making their programs effective. Finally, students will acquire knowledge about cultural diversities in local communities intoday’s global world, and about implications cultural differences have for the community leadership.
2. Acquire ability of systems thinking, a holistic approach to analysis that focuses on the way that a system's constituent parts interrelate, and how systems work over time and within the context of larger systems.
3. Develop their prosocial motivation.
