Learning outcomes
When completing the course, a student is able to:
- indicate main issues in developmental psycholinguistics;
- describe several leading theories explaining acquisition of language in humans;
- list and compare basic research methods used in developmental psycholingusitcs;
- critically analyse experimental research and link research results to both general theories and everyday life;
- search for research papers (in peer-reviewed journals) concerning particular topics in developmental psycholinguistics.
Assessment criteria
Points will be awarded for participation and activity during the classes:
1 point for attendance at each class
1 point for active participation at each class
up to 3 points for each obligatory homework (there will be about 7-8 obligatory homeworks during the overall course)
up to 10 points for oral presentation (based on research paper)
up to 20 points for final test
Overall number of obligatory points (as described above) will be calculated on the basis of actual number of classes held (predicted to be 15). Predicted maximum of obligatory points - 100.
There will be possibility to receive additional/bonus points for non-obligatory homeworks.
To pass the course 60% of overall number of points is needed.
Estimation of final marks based on points earned:
61-75% - 3
76-90% - 4
91-99% - 5
100% and more (including non-obligatory points) - 6
