Prerequisites (description)
Learning outcomes
K_W01 – the student understands the methodological and historical underpinnings of linguistics, and recognizes the applications of linguistic theories in explaining cognitive phenomena
K_W04 – the student can explain the theoretical foundations and applications of linguistic theories and recognize the constraints of each method
K_W05 – the student understands the place of linguistic theories in researching how human faculties (language, perception, motor activity, attention, memory, learning, decision-making) mutually influence and shape human functioning
K_U08 – the student can justify the choice of invoking specific linguistic theories in their research methodologies and data analysis methods based on the nature of the problem under being under consideration
K_U09 – the student can use their experience with theories of grammar to in computational models of natural language phenomena
K_U10 – the student can employ their knowledge of linguistic theories in the design of empirical experiments that investigate natural language as a system as well as a behavior and social phenomenon.
K_U13 - the student is proficient in advanced, specialist linguistic terminology in English; this level of proficiency is expected to be no less than at C1-level as defined by the CEFR, with the student making an active effort to attain full proficiency (C2 level) whenever possible.
