In a world where information stored in databases plays a huge role, people who can control it are needed. Microsoft Access is the environment for data organization and analysis. If you want to develop your competences in the field of data analysis, design and carry out analytical processes that require a clear flowchart, it is worth investing time and strength into proficiency in Microsoft Access and the SQL query language. Access for Excel users can help. In this course, you will deepen your knowledge of relational databases. You will create queries in SQL and you will learn how to present analysis results in attractively formatted reports. If Excel doesn't meet all of your data analytics needs, Access is the perfect addition to your analytical skills.
The Access course for Excel users is intended especially for people who work in Excel on a daily basis. The main emphasis will be on showing what it is worth using Access for and how to combine the potential of both programs. Students with some database experience will organize their knowledge and acquire more advanced skills by enrolling in the course. On the other hand, those who have not dealt with Access before will learn how to navigate in the program, create relational databases, and perform analysis using reports.
Course description:
In the Access course for Excel users, you will gain the ability to use MS Access independently. You will learn to use its versatile possibilities. The subject of the course includes, among others the following topics: creating tables, transforming data, working on relational databases, using queries (aggregate, functional and cross), using calculated fields, conducting conditional analyzes, SQL language. So you will be able to manage large databases, analyze data by creating queries (queries) in SQL language and present the results of your analysis in attractively formatted reports.

Notes:
1. Classes are held in the form of e-learning (full class materials with solutions and pre-prepared instructional videos explaining the issues discussed - no live classes) on the platform: https://elearning.wne.uw.edu.pl.
2. The course consists of 6 blocks of 5 teaching hours each and will run from the beginning of the semester until the end of March.
3. the software version valid for the course is Microsoft Office 2019 or later (language version: Polish, operating system: Windows). The use of an earlier version is possible, but will involve some difficulties. The English language version is not a major problem, but the implementation of the course on another operating system (e.g. Mac) is not possible, due to the limitations of Office (lack of necessary software components). The University of Warsaw does not provide participants with the necessary computer hardware or software.

Student has the ability to use MS Access. The student is able to manage large databases, analyze data by creating queries (queries) in SQL and present the results of his analyzes in attractively formatted reports.

The final evaluation consists of:
• finale project: 70 points;
• extra points for activity.
