Excel VBA applications in enterprises II 2400-ZEWW682
This course is a continuation of courses "Excel VBA applications in enterprises I" and " VBA tools in economic data analysis".
The course consists of 3 parts.
Part 1 (user interface):
• Active X controls
• built-in dialog boxes, UserForms
• advanced UserForm examples
• change shortcut menus
• ribbons editing
• Excel Add-In;
Part 2 (work on external objects):
• folders and files
• text editors
• mail editors
• presentations editors
• Visual Basic components
• Windows API functions
• class modules
Part 3 (developing applications):
• design Excel applications
• application examples
• presentation student projects
Note 1: elearning form of classes on the platform: https://elearning.wne.uw.edu.pl (complete class materials with solutions and instructional videos explaining the issues discussed - no live classes).
Note 2: the course is part of the educational path "Business applications in Microsoft Excel using the VBA programming language", upon completion of which participants receive a certificate. Details on the WNE UW website (Student> Educational Paths).
Note 3: the classes are held in blocks of 4 teaching hours. The entire course is 60 hours long.
Note 4: the course requires a lot of students' own work and is dedicated to people who want to learn to program well in VBA. Classes are conducted at the advanced level and are devoted to programming in VBA.
Note 5: The software version in the course is Microsoft Office 2021 or later (language version: Polish, operating system: Windows). Using an earlier version is possible, but it may cause some difficulties. The English language version is not a major problem, but the course a different operating system is (e.g. MacOS) due to the limitations of the Office suite (possible lack of necessary software components). The University of Warsaw does not provide participants with the necessary computer hardware or software.

Learning outcomes
The student will be able to apply advanced programming methods in VBA, create a user interface based on: control forms, ActiveX forms, built-in dialog boxes and custom UserForm dialog boxes, as well as write custom Excel add-ins. The student will also learn what features a professional Excel application should have, and will learn methods for creating applications that reference other programs (including Windows folders and files, text files, text editors, mail programs, and presentation programs), as well as how to create their own object classes. The student will gain the ability to create advanced Excel add-ins, modify the ribbon and pop-up menus, and be able to create professional utility applications.
Students who complete the Economic Data Analysis pathway in Microsoft Excel and the VBA programming language with at least Very Good grades will receive special certificates confirming the acquired knowledge and skills. Such a certificate can be a valuable item in your CV!

The final grade consists of:
• two collective homework, each scored 50 points;
• extra points for activity.
