Initial classes in the first semester will be devoted to:
1. Organization of student work and cooperation with tutors
2. The micro- and macroeconomic foundations of the labour market, in particular as regards the accumulation of human capital, the education sector and the links between the two areas
3. Labour market problems, the economics of education and human resources management as potential topics for individual BA thesis
4. Overview of research methods and sources of information on the labour market, education, HR, etc.
5. Preparing BA thesis:
- presentation of the topic of thesis,
- discussion on the outline of thesis,
- presentation and discussion of literature reviews related to the topic of the thesis,
- presentation and discussion of participants' research
The thesis should refer to the theoretical basis and include a critical review of existing empirical studies on the topic. In the case of own studies, it is possible to use the GUS databases (eg. LFS etc.), local labour market or educational services data or data provided by international sources (eg. OECD, ILO, Eurostat and other institutions).

The participant of the seminar is expected to demonstrate an ability to analyse an economic problem i.e. to formulate a research problem and/or to formulate scientific hypotheses on the basis of economic theory and/or literature review. As a result of the seminar, a bachelor's thesis is prepared and the seminar participant acquires the ability to critically analyse literature, search empirical data, construct empirical verification of hypotheses.
As a result of the seminar student:
- is able to write a bachelor's degree thesis, correct in substance and formally (concise, scientifically compliant, terminologically correct, retaining copyright requirements);
- knows how to properly formulate a research problem and can formulate simple research hypotheses;
- he can independently search, select and critically analyse the literature of the subject;
- has knowledge of the techniques of data acquisition and presentation;
- can acquire data and find information necessary to prepare academic thesis on a given topic using the Internet, library catalogues, etc.
- is able to use analytical tools and apply them to the analysis of a particular research problem;
- is characterized by intellectual openness and can look for original ways of arguing;
- respects the academic achievements of others and is able to use them properly in accordance with ethical standards;
- he can adequately formulate priorities in the workplace and solve dilemmas related to the performance of professional tasks.

Assessment criteria
The condition of getting credit is:
- semester I - presentation and acceptance of the plan and theses and presentation of at least one chapter of work (recommended - theoretical analysis or literature review);
- semester II - presentation of own research presented at work.
The bachelor's thesis is evaluated according to the rules of assessment of the undergraduate papers accepted for the WNE (available on the Faculty's website).
