The purpose of the seminar is to provide basic, systematic theoretical and practical knowledge related to issues concerning the functioning of enterprises in a globalized economy. During the course the student will also be familiar with the methodology of writing a thesis, and will teach the basic principles of scientific work. The participants should acquire skills for the analysis of scientific literature, learn about research methodology and basic principles of scientific work, and to implement their own work, based on a methodological workshop.

A. Knowledge:
Student knows how to formulate an important research goal, put scientific hypotheses, collect relevant theoretical and empirical literature, collect empirical data, select the appropriate method of analysis and apply it, draw conclusions from the study and critically comment on them. Student has knowledge of the main stages of research, conceptualization and operationalization of concepts, the differences between the research question and hypothesis.
Student knows the rules for preparation of papers, thesis and other written work, how to achieve the structural and formal correctness (compliance with the standards of scientific papers, respecting the requirements of copyright).
Student knows the methods of economic analysis.
Student has knowledge of the basic econometric tools used to verify the research hypotheses.
Student knows the methodology of economics and how to formulate and test hypotheses; know the methodology of experimental research.
B. Skills:
Student is able to state the purpose of research, put the hypotheses / research, collect relevant theoretical and empirical literature, collect empirical data, select the appropriate method of analysis and apply it, draw conclusions from the study and critically comment on them.
Students can write a thesis, correct substantively and formally (concise, standards-scientific, terminologically correct, preserving the requirements of copyright). He can also write another written work respecting the above rules.
Student has the ability to draw the typical speeches / formal presentations, using his own and others' analysis.
Student is able to acquire data and search for information needed in preparing academic work on a given topic using the Internet, library catalogs, etc. Student is able to formulate research questions and problems and justify their relevance in relation to literature. Students can prepare a paper with attention to the formal site compatible with writing research papers and dissertations.
C. Social competence:
Student, knowing that economic changes cause constant changes in the way of their analysis and changes in how to respond to it, understands the necessity of learning throughout life.
Student exhibits an attitude independent expansion and to improve their knowledge and skills. Student demonstrates understanding of the problems, which are observed in the surrounding world, is able to take a position in the public debate about the necessary reforms to deal with them.
Student is aware of areas of knowledge and skills that mastered, as well as gaps in his knowledge and skills.
Student appreciates the benefits of social and team work. Student can work in groups.
Student knows how to use the knowledge and skills of entrepreneurial activity.
Student knows how to properly formulate priorities in work and resolve the dilemmas associated with the performance of professional tasks.
Student recognizes the importance of reliability and regularity of work. Student is able to deliver on time with the duties and plan their own working time. He shows discipline in the timely completion of requirements.

Assessment criteria
Basis for completion of the first semester is active participation and choice of thesis subject area. The prerequisite for the second semester is to develop an outline approved work. The final, required of participants, result of the seminar is to prepare and submit a thesis.
Bibliography
The selection of literature depends on the specific thematic areas of particular theses and is made individually with students.
