Tax Accounting I-PIT(ACCA) 2400-M1RPPIT(ACCA)
The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with fundamental terms and regulations of tax accounting. Furthermore, tax regulations with special focus on personal income tax, corporate income tax and value added tax will be explained. Students will be introduced to the problem of revenue and cost classification that arise from differences between accounting and tax law, and to the recording procedure of economic operations related to income tax, VAT and other levies. Reporting obligations and methods of calculating income and tax base will be introduced, thus students will be able to identify and calculate tax liabilities using additional information from accounting system.
Course is designed for students of the third year first degree studies on track Finance, Investments and Accounting (specialization: Public Finance and Taxes). The course will be realized in the form of seminars during which students will be introduced to theory and it’s practical use in company tax recording. During classes students will solve tax-based problems in accounting. Students can get extra points for activity during classes and solving voluntary homework. After each module short knowledge assessment test will be held.
Detailed programme:
1. Tax system in Poland. Idea and scope of tax accounting.
2. Personal (individual) income tax – objective and subjective scope and methods of taxation: general tax, flat rate, tax card.
3. Recording of revenues and costs under personal income tax act.
4. Corporate income tax – objective and subjective scope.
5. Recording of revenues and costs under corporate income tax act.
6. Process on calculating taxable income, tax base and tax liability.
7. Value added tax (VAT) – principles and conditions of taxation and documentation requirements for account books. 8. Recording of domestic and international purchases and sales of goods and products.
9. Charged and due VAT settlement.
10. Other levies and duties in company.
11. Corporate tax reporting and tax audit of company books.

3. understands the role of accounting system in computing company tax liabilities
Assessment criteria
The obligatory presence. Assessment based on written exam at the end of semester and short tests at the beginning of chosen classes. Tests (multiple choice) at the beginning of classes assess knowledge from the specific topics (modules) introduced during classes. Written exam composed from multiple choice questions (test part) and open tasks. Test part concerns tax regulations (personal and corporate income tax, value added tax and other levies) and rules of their recording in company. Open tasks concerns calculation of financial profit/loss, taxable income, tax base tax liability and recording of operations related to domestic and international purchases/sales of goods and services. In case of voluntary homework completeness and correctness of solution is assessed.
The final mark will be based on the sum of points gained from short tests (max. 15 pts.) and written exam (max 45 pts.). Minimal requirement to pass the course is to get at least 23 pts. from written exam and at least 31 pts. (overall) from the course.
The final mark according to the points:
0 – 30 = fail (ndst) (2)
31 – 36 = satisfactory (dst) (3)
37 – 42 = satisfactory + (dst +) (3,5)
43 – 48 = good (4)
49 – 54 = good + (4,5)
55 – 60 = very good (5)
