The seminar starts with an introductory class. The next few classes focus on discussing:
I. Introduction.
II. Presentation of the rules for writing a bachelor thesis.
III. Presentation of various hard to measure phenomena - depending on students interest.
IV. Search for thesis topics.

Knowledge:
1.The student has an advanced knowledge of writing a master thesis.
2.The student has an advanced knowledge of the issues which examines in his work
3. The student has an advanced knowledge of basic problems when analyzing data
4. The student knows basics of methodology of science and ways of formulating scientific hypotheses.
5. The student has knowledge regarding quantitative methods used in research on hard to measure phenomena on corporate finance.
Skills:
1. Student has the ability to select statistical model and estimation method to the analyzed problem and data set for preparing a master thesis.
2. Student can use econometric methods to read from data quantitative and qualitative relationships between variables, verify theoretical hypotheses and to formulate predictions to problems connected to the topic of his master thesis.
Social competences:
1. The student is aware of the need for verification of economic theory with empirical data. At the same time student knows the limitations of models used in empirical analysis. Student is able to plan and execute empirical research.
2. The student understands that economic theories are controversial and that it is necessary to confront them with empirical data. He can imagine, whether or not the economic hypothesis can be subjected to empirical verification.

Assessment criteria
Assessment is based on progress in preparing the master thesis. A positive grade for the last semester of the seminar is only give after the thesis has been submitted to the students office.
