Classes in semester I will be devoted to the formulation of research problem and preparation of literature review, and semester II will be devoted to the preparation of own research.
1 and 2. Organizing classes and discussing the design of a bachelor's thesis.
3, 4 and 5. Discussing the topics of tax and benefit systems, inequalities, and labor market: how they are analyzed, and what data can be used in such analyses.
Subsequent meetings will be devoted to discussions on topics selected by students for their thesis, discussions on thesis outlines, presentations of prepared literature reviews, discussions on plans for conducting their own empirical research, presentations, and discussions on the next stages of research.
Participants in the seminar will prepare and present the research topic, referring to the theory of economics, will prepare a review and critical analysis of existing research on the chosen subject, and will develop their own empirical study. In order to carry out their own research, participants will use data provided by international sources (Eurostat, OECD, and others), as well as from CSO databases collected by WNE UW (e.g., Labor Force Survey, Household Budget Survey).

Ability to analyze selected research problem using economic tools.
Participant of the seminar is able to formulate a research problem based on the economic theories and literature of the subject. Participant of the seminar demonstrates self-reliance in formulation of scientific hypothesis and preparation of the plan of its verification and also uses the literature of the subject and performs data analysis in order to prepare a written scientific work.

Assessment criteria
Students are evaluated on the basis of preparation and submission of their thesis.
The bachelor's thesis presented by the student is evaluated according to the rules of assessment of undergraduate studies accepted at WNE.
