It is fun to be old? The consequences of an aging population 2400-EN3SL314A
As part of the seminar, students will independently select research topics for undergraduate theses. In the winter semester, basic issues will be discussed (partly in the form of student presentations) concerning:
1. changing modes of behavior and human relations,
2. the provision of livelihoods in old age,
3. problems of financing the maintenance of the elderly with public funds,
4. labor market problems,
5. reforms of pension systems,
6. the emergence of new economic sectors, changes in demand for goods and services,
7. etc.
In addition, students will become familiar with basic sources of data on population aging and basic literature.
In the summer semester, students will present the stages of their undergraduate thesis:
1. the problem and purpose of the work,
2. Data and methodology of the study,
3. results and conclusions.

a) Knowledge:
1. the student has basic knowledge of the processes of population aging, knows how these processes can affect society, the state and the economy.
2. student knows methods and tools to analyze the process of population aging and its effects
b) Skills:
1. the student is able to analyze and interpret social and economic problems related to population aging, using the acquired theoretical knowledge.
2. the student uses the acquired knowledge and independently conducted analyses to solve the studied problems
3. the student is able to conduct quantitative analyses, select information, present the obtained results to the public and write a bachelor's thesis on this basis.
(c) Social competencies:
1. the student is able to appropriately determine priorities for the implementation of the conducted study
2. student is able to supplement and improve the acquired knowledge and skills

Assessment criteria
The seminar is passed if the student writes a bachelor's thesis, which is accepted by the supervisor. In the winter semester, to pass the student must make a presentation and write a paper describing the preliminary outline of the bachelor's thesis.
