Understanding Business 2400-DS2UB
The course includes the following topics:
- Business as an interdisciplinary field, covering knowledge and know-how in economics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, statistics and law.
- Functioning of the business and business environment of modern enterprises.
- Knowledge of the determinants of the development of modern business practice.
- Dynamic development of the modern business services sector (including banking, finance, telecommunications, IT, research and development, and management).
- Research on business trends and innovative trends, as well as optimal operation in various types of organizational contexts of enterprises.
- Analytical solving of business problems emerging in the socio-economic space.
The course is conducted in close cooperation with enterprises, which allows for a practical discussion of the use of tools supporting business activities and enables mentoring of professional experts that cooperate in classes.

- The student has knowledge about the functioning of enterprises and their activities in the business environment.
- The student knows the ways used by enterprises to gather their know-how that supports business decision making.
- Student is able to use knowledge from business-related fields (economics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, statistics, law) to analytical solving of business problems.
- Student independently processes and analyzes data on modern business practice.
- The student independently analyzes the selected Case Study and prepares the concept of improving the solution presented in it.
- Student is able to work in groups and cooperate with others.
- Student is able to formulate his/her point of view and express it in the discussion in the form of the final pitch.
- Student expresses his/her research curiosity and openness to economic phenomena.
Assessment criteria
The final project carried out in the group (preparation of the concept of improvement of the solution presented in the selected Case Study) and the final pitch.
