The seminar is addressed to students who are interested in the broadly understood issue of experiential learnig, in particular those who want to combine practice with research.
Suggested thematic areas:
Outdoor/adventure education:
- outdoor/adventure education in Poland and in the world
- institutions promoting outdoor/adventure education - monographs
- forest alternative education - forest schools and kindergartens
- use of outdoor/adventure education methods in formal and non-formal education
- effects of using outdoor/adventure education
- implementation of adventure programs using a variety of adventure means
Polish scout movement:
- cooperation between scout organizations in Poland
- Polish scouting movement outside the country
- Scout movement against the background of the Scout movement
- transformations and (r)evolution in the scout movement
- strain, team as a co-organizer of the local environment
Movement and dance - sport, recreation or therapy?
- use of movement and dance in non-formal education
- movement and dance as therapy
- movement and dance as recreation
- competitive dance competences - a chance for development or a threat?
Alternative education:
- monograph of the selected alternative school
- home education in Poland and in the world
- learning outcomes in traditional and alternative education
The student can choose the nature of his work - research (planning and conducting research) or design (planning, conducting and evaluation of the project).

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
1. 1. Student has basic knowledge of terminology and knows the basic theories of non-formal education.
2. Student has knowledge about various types of social structures, institutions of social life and understands the relationships between them
3. The student has in-depth knowledge of various socialization environments and processes occurring in the educational environment
4. Student has basic knowledge about methods of getting to know the environment
5. The student has basic knowledge about research problems, methods, techniques and research tools enabling conducting scientific research
6. The student has ordered knowledge of ethical principles and norms in pedagogical work
Skills:
1. Student is able to apply theoretical approaches to observation, analysis and interpretation of situations and phenomena taking place in the social and educational environment of children and youth
2. Student has basic research skills enabling to conduct analyzes, formulate conclusions and interpret the results of the obtained research
3. Can speak in a consistent and precise way in speech and writing on topics related to pedagogy with the use of various theoretical approaches
4. Student can present his own ideas, formulate doubts and critical judgments, using the acquired theoretical knowledge
5. Can use theoretical knowledge to prepare a social project.
competence:
1. Student understands the need to deepen and update knowledge in the field of pedagogy and its sub-disciplines
2. The student is aware of the ethical context of research, complies with standards and principles in the design and implementation of the research procedure
Assessment criteria
Course conditions:
- presentation of the topic of work, concept of work, bibliography
- development of the basic concepts underlying the work (part of the theoretical chapter)
- analysis of research achievements related to selected topic of work
