Research Project in Arts Education 2300-S2-MBSH-PB
The project focuses on the following areas:
1. Identifying research needs of a partner institution and defining research problems in arts education and culture.
2. Formulating research aims, research questions and hypotheses.
3. Reviewing and critically analyzing relevant literature.
4. Designing a research process and selecting appropriate methodologies.
5. Applying qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods approaches.
6. Exploring possibilities of arts-based research.
7. Designing research instruments.
8. Conducting fieldwork in collaboration with an external institution.
9. Applying ethical principles in educational and cultural research.
10. Analyzing and interpreting research data.
11. Formulating conclusions and recommendations.
12. Preparing a professional research report.
13. Presenting research findings to academic and non-academic audiences.
14. Reflecting on the research process and collaborative work.

Learning outcomes
In terms of knowledge, the student knows and understands:
- the methodological foundations of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research in the social sciences and humanities;
- the stages of the research process and the principles of designing research projects in the field of arts education;
- the principles of selecting research methods, techniques, and tools appropriate to specific research problems;
- the basic assumptions of arts-based research and the possibilities of applying artistic practices within educational research;
- the ethical principles of conducting research, particularly research involving children and young people;
- the principles of preparing research reports and presenting research findings to diverse audiences.
In terms of skills, the student is able to:
- identify and define research problems in the field of arts education and alternative education;
- plan and carry out a research process that responds to the needs of a specific institution or community;
- select appropriate methodological approaches, research methods, and techniques;
- design and develop research instruments;
- independently and collaboratively collect research data and document the research process;
- analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative data;
- formulate conclusions and recommendations based on research findings;
- prepare research reports and present research results to both academic and non-academic audiences;
- collaborate effectively within a research team in the implementation of complex research projects.
In terms of social competences, the student is ready to:
- conduct research responsibly and in accordance with the principles of research ethics;
- engage in critical reflection on their own research activities and their social implications;
- collaborate with representatives of cultural institutions, educational organizations, and the social sector;
- actively participate in collaborative research projects;
- take responsibility for the quality of conducted research and the recommendations developed on its basis;
- apply research findings to the development of educational and cultural practice.
Assessment criteria
Assessment is based on active participation in the research project, contribution to data collection and analysis, preparation of the final report, and presentation of research findings to the partner institution.
