Alternative Education in Action Module 2300-S2-MAD
As part of the module, students will become familiar with the specifics of educational work in the scientific and technical space using elements of artistic education. They will learn about the specifics of the functioning of science centers as institutions supporting alternative forms of education. They will learn about various technical laboratories, in which they familiarize themselves with the content and acquire skills necessary in educational work with children and young people, integrating scientific, technical and artistic knowledge. The module integrates theoretical knowledge with practical activities of students. As part of the module, students will also have the opportunity to complete an internship in institutions implementing extracurricular educational activities. The module implements standards D (D.1 Didactics of the subject of teaching or classes) - Artistic and technical laboratories (30h Wr)

Learning outcomes
In terms of knowledge, the student knows and understands:
- how different pedagogical approaches are combined - especially alternative, artistic education and animation - and what their significance is in educational practice (K2_W02)
- how institutions related to alternative and artistic education work - their history, structure and functions (K2_W06)
- legal, organizational and methodological foundations of the functioning of institutions implementing alternative forms of education (K2_W07)
- how to conduct inclusive and intercultural educational activities using artistic education methods (K2_W08)
- work methods characteristic of alternative and artistic education (K2_W12)
- good practices, procedures and standards used in alternative and artistic education and in activities with children and young people (K2_W13)
In terms of skills, the student is able to:
- observe, design and implement educational activities in alternative, artistic and scientific spaces, adapting them to the needs of recipients (K2_U02)
- analyze and use knowledge in the field of education artistic, taking into account current social and cultural changes (K2_U03)
- evaluate educational activities in institutions of extracurricular activities and solve problems related to them (K2_U04)
- independently develop their knowledge and pedagogical skills using various sources and technologies (K2_U11)
- conduct educational activities with people with different needs (K2_U14)
In terms of social competences, the student:
- reflectively evaluate their knowledge and continuously improve it in response to the changing needs of alternative and artistic education (K2_K01)
- use the knowledge of experts and evaluate the role of knowledge when planning educational activities (K2_K02)
- respect the experience of others and take independent actions in the educational environment, in cooperation with various institutions (K2_K03)
- conduct activities in diverse groups, resolve conflicts through dialogue and build an open atmosphere in educational work (K2_K07)
Assessment criteria
Passing the module components based on activities undertaken during classes.
Annual work – “a lasting trace” – creating a material form of summarizing activities (e.g. film, publication, construction, handicraft) that can be used by other people or groups.
Practical placement
Professional practice at an extracurricular facility
