School pedagogue practice 1 2300-PRPS
The internships are held in primary schools and psychological and pedagogical clinics. The aim of the internship is to gather experience related to the specifics of fulfilling the role of a school pedagogue while working with children and young people, a team of teachers, a team of specialists, parents and guardians; managing a group and diagnosing individual needs of students and confronting the acquired psychological and pedagogical knowledge with the pedagogical reality in practical action. During the internship, students will become familiar with the implemented care and educational tasks, the way the institution functions, the organization of work and the documentation kept. They will observe the activities of groups of students, adult-child interactions and interactions between students, interpersonal and social communication processes in groups, group dynamics, activities undertaken by the school pedagogue and the classes they conduct. They will become familiar with the documentation kept by the school pedagogue, including diagnostic tools, and will also conduct an individual diagnosis of the educational and upbringing needs of the child under the supervision of the internship supervisor. The internships are held at two levels of education - 45 hours in primary school and 15 hours in psychological and pedagogical clinics.
Objectives of the pedagogical internship:
• learning about the scope of work of a school pedagogue,
• using the tools learned in diagnosing the special needs of children and teenagers,
• acquiring the ability to analyze the results of an individual diagnosis of a child made using various methods used in social sciences,
• acquiring the ability to communicate effectively with students, their parents and other teachers,
• acquiring the ability to respond to crisis situations for children and teenagers,
• acquiring the ability to recognize educational and upbringing threats to the child and their environment.
The student is required to complete the internship in public institutions. The condition for passing the internship is to obtain a certificate of completion of the internship and to prepare a portfolio of pedagogical experiences in each institution.

Assessment criteria
The condition for receiving credit for the internship is:
- providing the internship coordinator with a current certificate of no criminal record
- providing complete internship documentation: agreement, internship plan, internship certificate with assessment
- preparing a portfolio.
Practical placement
Internship in primary school - 45 hours
Internship in psychological and pedagogical counseling center - 15 hours
