MBiP-Human biological development – conditions and needs - seminar 2300-NZ1-MBiP-BP-K
Objectives:
1. Provide knowledge about human development concerning
• the development of certain systems, organs, anatomical and functional structures in different periods of life, and the relationship with their current abilities and needs
• the consequences of failure to satisfy the biological needs of man on his health and functioning in all spheres of life
2. Help students to acquire competencies necessary to:
• identify their own problems and developmental and health needs during early adulthood period,
• understanding of the biological needs at various stages of life,
• understanding of the relationship between human biological needs at different times of his life and psychosocial health, including functioning in family and school
Content
1. Introduction to the course, determine the rules of working in a group. Familiarizing with the project method
2. The division into groups, determine the issues to be implemented under the project, the allocation of tasks within the group. Phylogenetic development of the human being and its determinants
3. Presentation of project implementation plans. Preconceive care and its objectives, tasks, limitations
4. Prenatal development of man. The share of internal and external factors in the emergence of developmental disorders.
5. Characteristics of the neonatal period, the child's needs during this period. The importance of breastfeeding for human physical and psychosocial development
6. The physical and psychomotor development in infancy. Needs of the child during this period. Physiological reflexes of a newborn and an infant and sensory integration.
7. The physical and psychomotor development of toddlers. Child's needs during this period.
8. The physical and motor development of children at pre-school
9. The physical and motor development of children during early school. Needs of the child during this period.
10. The physical and motor development during puberty. Changes in the reproductive and hormonal system.
11. Sexual characteristics, the stages of puberty for girls and boys, and their needs during this period.
12. Characteristics of young adulthood. Changes in each system, organ and anatomical structure. Needs of the people at this stage.
13. Characteristics of the adulthood. Changes in each system, organ and anatomical structure. Needs of the people at this stage.
14. Aging. Changes in operating systems and organs during aging.. Needs of the people at this stage.
15. Presentation and defense of projects

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes – student:
I. In terms of knowledge:
1. Has a basic understanding of the relationship between satisfying the specific biological, psychological and social needs and the human biological development
2. Has a basic understanding of the anatomical and physiological changes occurring during physical, motor and psychosocial development at various stages of children, young people, adults and elders life.
II. In terms of skills:
1. Can explain the relationship between the functioning of the various systems, organs and the period of human development. He can use this knowledge to better understand the needs of children, young people, adults and the elderly.
2. Understands the changes that have occurred at various times in his life, and identify his own needs at the current stage of development; understands that there may be consequences if they are unsatisfied; can plan how to satisfy them.
3. Is able to plan work with people of all ages with respect to their current needs and skills.
III. In terms of social competences:
1. Understands that the teacher should have knowledge of human development at various stages of life with particular emphasis on the factors that influence the behavior and learning
2. Is aware that lack of satisfaction of the biological needs of man has an impact on various aspects of his development and health.
3. Is aware that early detection of abnormalities in human development and implementation of preventive measures can have a significant impact on improving the quality of life of children, young people and adults.
Assessment criteria
Conditions for course credition:
• Students may leave two classes, each subsequent absence must be justified by a medical certificate and credit by the student in a form agreed with the teacher
Credit obtain a student who:
• Leave no more than 2 classes or credit absences
• Took part in the project and received a positive evaluation during his presentation
The evaluation covers the knowledge, skills and competencies of the selected learning outcome
