The Russian Pedagogy 2300-NU-KJO-ROS
The aim of the seminar is to show the evaluation of selected issues of the Russian pedagogy in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The analysis will be based on the contemporary Russian academic textbooks for education - especially for the history of education and comparative education, as well as journals, Soviet propaganda moovies of 1920s-1950s, etc. The results of the analysis will be subject to comparison with the Polish and West European textbooks. The basis for discussion, in the Russian language, will be reading and discussing the texts in Russian. The seminar is designed to enable a real discussion with students, a joint investigation into proposals, exchange of the experiences. An interactive form of the course is to enable students to articulate self-assessment, discussion and criticism of the commonly accepted stereotypes.

Learning outcomes
The main effect of the seminar is knowledge of the Russian language on the level of B2+. During the course students will learn the methods and techniques of a teacher-humanist in practice. Classes are monographic character, presenting the key issues of education in Russia in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The course is designed to shape students' enhanced ability to think as a humanist, and a knowledge of different types of historical source materials: pedagogical theoretical treatises, textbooks, journals, Soviet propaganda moovies of 1920s-1950s, etc. The aim of exercise is also to develop skills of critical reading of the literature in a foreign language, self-critical and the aspects of the issues discussed, and substantive discussion on the topic.
