Educational leadership 2300-NU-KJO-EL
The subject „Educational Leadership” focuses on the issue of educational leadership in the context of its contemporary challenges. Particular attention will be paid to the following topics:
1. Leaders and Managers - leading and managing
2.Theories of leadership: Implications for educational leadership
3. The importance of educational leadership in contemporary times
4. School leadership – towards innovative approaches and key actions to strengthen school leadership
5. School leadership: Creating a change
6. Building and Sustaining Success in Leadership: International Respective
The classes will allow students for their active involvement in the analysis of the topics covered in the lecture, for raising the issues of their interest and leading the discussions about the most important current issues relating to educational leadership, both from the point of view of the theory and practice. The classe will create the conditions for developing students' leadership competences.

On completion of this subject the student is expected to be able to:
Knowledge:
- characterize the key assumptions of the various theories of leadership,
- indicate the qualities of effective leader,
- describes the style of successful leadership,
- characterize the essentials of leadership in the schools.
Skills:
- work in a group and perform different roles in it,
- generate oryginal solutions to the educational problems and to create educational changes.
Social Competences:
- understand the need of continuous personal and professional development,
- present activity and is characterized by persistence in completing individual and team tasks,
- seek optimal solutions and opportunities to improve the quality of education through the development of educational change,
- be responsible for his/her actions and their consequences.
Assessment criteria
Intended learning outcomes are verified as follows:
1) Assessment of the active student's participation in the ongoing activities, with a focus on: (i) discussions in class, (ii) group work in class.
2) Assessment of the project on the development of educational change in schools and how to implement it. Project developed by a group of 3-4 students.
Algorithm to determine a student's final grade:
1) student's work in class: 50%
2) project - work group: 50%
