Introduction to the World of Humanities and Social Sciences 2300-MWŚN
The module aims to comprehensively introduce students to the basic issues in the field of pedagogy, psychology, philosophy and sociology, which constitute the foundation of pedagogical and psychological preparation in accordance with teacher standards (B1: Psychology, B2: Pedagogy). The primary goal of the module is to familiarize participants with key concepts, theoretical categories and cognitive contexts of pedagogy as a science and to show its connections with other disciplines, especially psychology, philosophy and sociology.
As part of Introduction to Pedagogy, students will become familiar with the basic concepts and directions in pedagogy, subdisciplines of this science and the diversity of pedagogical thought. Its connections with other social sciences and humanities will also be discussed, which will allow participants to better understand pedagogy as an interdisciplinary discipline.
Introduction to Psychology includes basic knowledge about cognitive processes (such as perception, thinking, memory), emotions and motivation, learning, language and the psychology of individual differences - including intelligence, personality, temperament and cognitive styles. These classes will enable a better understanding of the mechanisms regulating human behavior and functioning in the educational context.
Introduction to Philosophy is an outline of the most important trends and concepts of philosophical thought, with particular emphasis on their significance for pedagogical theory and practice.
In turn, Introduction to Sociology allows students to understand the social conditions of upbringing and education and the relations between the individual and society, which is an important background for pedagogical reflection.
The module allows participants to acquire interdisciplinary knowledge necessary for conscious and responsible performance of the role of a teacher.
