Learning outcomes
The seminar aims to achieve the following learning outcomes:
KNOWLEDGE – the student will know and understand:
1. the history of the development of the specific fields within special pedagogy and the socio-scientific determinants of that process (K_W01);
2. the definitional and diagnostic criteria for various types of disability and special educational needs, including their medical, psychological, and social underpinnings (K_W02);
3. the special education system for students with special educational needs in Poland, with reference to the different types of disabilities and needs (K_W06).
SKILLS – the student will be able to:
1. plan pathways for the social inclusion of individuals with different types of disabilities and special educational needs, including ensuring their access to valued social roles (K_U01);
2. prepare a concise presentation on a selected type of disability, using up-to-date sources and framing the issues in relation to the academic literature (K_U02);
3. plan the application of special pedagogy knowledge in their own professional practice (K_U06).
COMPETENCES – the student will demonstrate readiness to:
1. assess the relevance and usefulness of knowledge about individuals with disabilities and special educational needs in the work of educators (K_K01).
Assessment criteria
1. Moderating a discussion during one class session
2. Active participation in class discussions
3. Written colloquium – five questions. A pass requires correctly answering at least four questions.
