Developmental psychology 2300-MPiB-PR
Objectives:
1. To provide basic knowledge regarding:
the subject of developmental psychology, research strategies and methods,
the concept of developmental change, periodization of development, and developmental crises,
developmental regularities in the areas of intellectual development, speech development, moral development, and social development.
2. To help students acquire the competencies necessary to:
recognize developmental regularities at specific stages of development,
adapt pedagogical methods to the developmental capabilities of students,
support their own development and that of students.
Content. Course topics:
1. The subject of developmental psychology. Research strategies and methods.
2. The concept of development and developmental change. Criteria for classification, quantitative and qualitative models.
3. Developmental research: cognitive approach, learning theories, contemporary psychoanalytic trends.
4. Periodization of development: stages of development, pace and rhythm of development.
5. The concept of crises in development. 6. The course of intellectual development: the developmental concepts of J. Bruner, L. Vygotsky, and J. Piaget.
7. The course of speech development: speech development depending on the concept, determinants of speech development: cognitive, behavioral, and emotional; written communication.
8. The course of moral development: the concept of J. Piaget and L. Kohlberg.
9. The course of social development: Erikson's concept of psychosocial development.

I. In terms of knowledge, the student:
1. Has basic knowledge of the subject of developmental psychology, research strategies and methods, developmental change, periodization of development, and developmental crises.
2. Has basic knowledge of the patterns of intellectual, speech, moral, and social development.
II. In terms of skills, the student:
1. Can explain developmental changes and their implications.
2. Understands why it is important to recognize developmental opportunities within a given area and at a specific stage of development.
3. Can plan work to adapt it to developmental patterns.
III. In terms of social competences, the student:
1. Understands that educators should possess knowledge of human developmental patterns.
2. Understands that the selection of methods for working with students should be adapted to their developmental capabilities.
3. Is aware that educators can, through appropriate selection of pedagogical methods, support the development of children and adolescents.
Assessment criteria
Assess the entire lecture topic. Students answer five open-ended questions. Assessment criteria for the final assessment: a) consistency of answers with the lecture content; b) ordering of responses; c) correct use of terminology in connection with the lecture content; d) linguistic accuracy.
