Active Learning Methods 2300-MNN-AMK
The Active Learning Methods course is intended to familiarise students with the principles of designing, implementing and evaluating classes conducted using activating methods and to provide students with the opportunity to use the acquired knowledge practically. During the classes, various educational methods will be discussed and used in group work to activate the course participants. Students learn their typologies and various conditions for using these methods in educational practice.

Learning outcomes
After completing the knowledge course, the student is able to:
- describe the conditions of the education cycle,
- present a typology of education methods,
- indicate the place of active learning methods compared to other methods,
- present a typology of active learning methods,
- characterize various techniques affiliated to active learning methods and indicate the conditions for their use in educational practice,
- understand the difficulties and barriers of the learning process.
In terms of skills, the student is able to:
- develop a training cycle for a selected group of participants,
- create workshops that motivate children and young people to learn and work on their character, developing their interests and passions,
- analyse the effectiveness of the proposed activities, use assessment and feedback, and modify activities in order to achieve the desired educational effects,
- create correct and understandable messages for various groups of participants, in accordance with the principles of effective communication, take care of the language culture of participants in the education process.
In terms of social competences, the student:
- appreciates the possibilities of education using active methods.
- improves his/her skills by learning new methods and skilfully uses them in his/her work as a pedagogue and animator
- uses the knowledge of experts from various fields in designing work in the area of formal and alternative education, socio-cultural animation,
- understands the value of cooperation in undertaking various pedagogical activities,
- undertakes activities supporting children and young people in their personal development.
Assessment criteria
- attendance and active participation in classes (2 absences per semester are allowed),
- preparing and conducting training classes using activating methods.
- designing and implementing an original training programme
