Modern Education Module 2300-MNN
The aim of the module is to familiarize students with both classical didactics and new trends in contemporary didactics. The thematic scope of the module includes general issues, reaching for issues of primary didactics. These include the cultural-evolutionary origins of school education, and next to it a look at human nature along with emerging didactic orientations. They create a map that organizes thinking about education. Selected didactic positions are analyzed against this background, along with dilemmas concerning the school as an educational institution. The module is supplemented by issues of selected components of teacher's instruments and modern methods, techniques and didactic tools. Students will become familiar with the principles of creating a didactic process in accordance with STEAM requirements and with the possibilities of using new technologies in didactics. Additionally, they will learn techniques of proper voice emission. As part of the module classes, students will acquire and develop skills that determine the possibility of carrying out pedagogical tasks in conditions of real social interaction, including: communication adequate to the level of development of students, supporting cognitive development, shaping motivation to learn, the ability to notice educational problems, shaping the social competences of the student, initial diagnosis of situations requiring specialist intervention (e.g. psychologist or speech therapist), conducting educational classes, establishing contacts and cooperation with students, parents, teachers and employees of psychological-pedagogical and specialist counselling centres. The professional role of the pedagogue of an educational institution will be discussed and learning difficulties will be characterised, in relation to which prevention, diagnosis and pedagogical therapy do not require specialist competences. The following topics will be discussed:
• characteristics of the profession, conditions of employment, required qualifications, documentation of the pedagogue of an educational institution;
• learning difficulties: the efficiency aspect (remembering, processing and selecting information, directing attention and setting a goal, planning and monitoring the learning process); motivational and subjective aspect (motivation in learning, stress and educational failures, learning strategies); regulatory aspect (setting a goal, planning and controlling the learning process). The classes will discuss the specifics of working with students with special educational needs, the principles of creating and working with teams supporting such students. The module content is supplemented by the implementation of pedagogical practice. The module implements teacher standards C (Basics of didactics and voice emission) and D (D.1 Didactics of a teaching subject or classes)
