Education Module in Science Centers 1 2300-MECN
The module introduces students to the specifics of how modern science centers operate, their organization, principles of operation, and the role of the animator. Participants will learn about different models of animating interactive exhibitions, methods of engaging visitors, and ways of popularizing science. Good practices and innovative solutions used in science centers around the world will also be analyzed. Students will gain knowledge about designing educational experiences and the role of new technologies in interactive scientific communication. The classes include both theory and practical tasks related to creating and animating educational content.

In terms of knowledge, the graduate knows and understands:
1. modern pedagogical approaches related to non-formal education, popularization of science and animation in science centers (K1_W01)
2. principles of working with a group of visitors, group dynamics and methods of communication in the context of animation activities in the space of interactive exhibitions (K1_W05)
3. structure and functions of institutions dealing with non-formal education, such as science centers, and their place in the education system (K1_W06)
4. how to create activities that are accessible and engaging for people with different educational and cultural needs in interactive space (K1_W08)
5. basic ethical and legal principles regarding educational and animation work in cultural and scientific institutions (K1_W09)
6. good practices and procedures used in non-formal education and scientific animation in science centers around the world (K1_W13)
In terms of skills, the graduate is able to:
1. analyze and interpret the concepts of non-formal education and popularization of science in relation to animation activities (K1_U01)
2. evaluate and use innovative educational solutions used in science centers, adapting them to different recipients (K1_U03)
3. evaluate the quality of educational activities in science centers and propose solutions that take into account the needs of groups of visitors (K1_U04)
In terms of social competences, the graduate is ready to:
1. reflect on their own knowledge and skills, and develop them in response to changes in scientific education and animation (K1_K01)
