Students will learn about various approaches to alternative education, both historically and contemporary, and will also become familiar with its philosophical, psychological and pedagogical foundations. The module assumes reflection on the goals, methods, organizational forms and values that underlie alternative educational models, emphasizing their potential in building a more individualized, supportive and engaging educational process.
The classes are aimed not only at imparting knowledge, but also at developing the skills of critical thinking, analysis and comparison of different educational approaches and assessing their usefulness in pedagogical practice. The module includes three components:
- Theoretical foundations of alternative education, which discusses the main assumptions and concepts underlying alternative education,
- The history of alternative thought in education, presenting the development of educational ideas in Poland and around the world,
- Contemporary alternative education systems, focusing on the analysis of existing solutions and models, such as Montessori, Waldorf, democratic or forest schools.
The module allows students to better understand the possibilities and limitations of alternative education and its application in didactic and educational practice.
