Socio-Cultural Animation Module 1 2300-MASK1
The aim of the module is to provide students with knowledge on various aspects of socio-cultural animation, its genesis and socio-cultural conditions, and to encourage reflection and discussion on the dilemmas of socio-cultural animation and the problems faced by socio-cultural animators. During the module classes, various models of animators' work and the ways in which institutions and organizations from the areas of socio-cultural animation in Poland and other countries operate will be discussed. Activities on the border of animation and non-formal education, cultural and artistic education, social counseling, civic action, as well as innovative forms of work and original projects from these areas/scopes will be presented. As part of the module classes, students will conduct study visits to selected institutions operating in the area of socio-cultural animation and will also have the opportunity to actively participate in current cultural events.

In terms of knowledge, the student knows and understands:
1. historical and contemporary positions, theories and concepts in the field of socio-cultural animation (K1_W01)
2. the place of socio-cultural animation in pedagogy and other sciences (K1_W02)
3. the specificity of the functioning of the educational environment, formal and informal groups in the context of animation activities (K1_W05)
4. the history, structure, functions and principles of creating and operating institutions in the area of socio-cultural animation (K1_W06)
5. formal and legal conditions of animation activities (K1_W07)
6. animation methods of working with people with diverse educational needs (K1_W08)
7. ethical conditions of pedagogical activities within socio-cultural animation (K1_W09)
8. good practices used in socio-cultural animation (K1_W13)
9. the role of the socio-cultural animator in motivating children, youth and groups to act and overcome educational difficulties. (K1_W14)
In terms of skills, the student is able to:
1. analyze theories and related concepts from the field of socio-cultural animation (K1_U01)
2. analyze the animation project in terms of the needs of the target group (K1_U02)
3. analyze activities from the field of socio-cultural animation and propose new forms of educational work adapted to contemporary social and cultural conditions (K1_U03)
4. critically evaluate pedagogical activities in contemporary institutions of socio-cultural animation (K1_U04)
5. plan their professional development as a socio-cultural animator (K1_U07)
In terms of social competences, the student is ready to:
1. plan animation activities in cooperation with people from various fields and environments (K1_K02)
2. get involved in local activities using socio-cultural animation methods (K1_K03)
3. cooperate with various people and institutions and take on different roles at work team (K1_K03)
4. active participation in cultural and social life with care for the culture of the language (K1_K06)
5. conducting educational and animation activities with people from different backgrounds and with different needs (K1_K07)
6. building a good atmosphere in the group and resolving conflicts through dialogue (K1_K07)
Assessment criteria
1. Portfolio:
- prepared in a digital version with interactive materials
- presenting the activities of institutions visited as part of the module components
- containing an introductory essay on a specific topic
2. Preparation of at least one post with photo and/or video materials to be placed on the targeted social media.
3. Participation in a designated large animation project as a volunteer.
4. Passing all the components of the module.
The final grade is the resultant of the average of the module components and the requirements from points 1 - 3.
