The module support for the education and upbringing of persons with intellectual disabilities 2300-J-PS-MWE
The module Supporting the Education and Upbringing of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities includes content related to developing a multidisciplinary assessment of student functioning, as well as creating and modifying individualized educational and therapeutic programs, including revalidation-educational programs. It also addresses cooperation with families and staff of residential facilities, methods for developing students’ personal, communication, and social competencies, the organization of learning environments, and the role of the teacher across educational stages. Students also explore early primary teaching methodology with particular emphasis on reading, writing, and math instruction, and the "work centers method" for students with mild intellectual disabilities. The module includes the following subjects:
Multidisciplinary psychopedagogical assessment of students with intellectual disabilities (15 hours, seminar),
Alternative and augmentative communication (15 hours, seminar),
Designing educational and therapeutic programs (15 hours, seminar),
Methods of working with children with intellectual disabilities (15 hours, workshop),
Supporting children with reading and writing difficulties (30 hours, seminar),
Supporting children with mathematical learning difficulties (30 hours, seminar),
Teacher’s upbringing competence workshop for students with intellectual Disabilities (30 hours, workshop).

- analyze the documentation of a student with intellectual disabilities and prepare a multidisciplinary assessment of their functioning; K_U06

Assessment criteria
Written exam, after prior completion of all required components (attendance, quizzes) for each subject within the module, or based on the average grade from individual subjects.
