Pedagogue in the process of co-organizing education and upbringing for idividuals with special educational needs (SEN) 2300-J-PS-MNWPS-PPW
The course program includes topics related to the work of a support teacher and special educator, as well as their educational and caregiving actions that support the needs of students in various types of schools, such as inclusive, integrating, and special schools. Participants will gain foundational knowledge about different types of disabilities, including physical, intellectual, hearing, and visual impairments, as well as chronic illnesses and the specifics of functioning of individuals with pervasive developmental disorders. During the classes, behaviors toward individuals with disabilities will also be discussed, as well as methods for working individually with students and in diverse groups. Participants will also learn about the role, competencies, and tasks of the support teacher, as well as the principles of effective collaboration with the leading teacher. The goal of the course is to prepare future pedagogues to effectively support students with SEN and create an integrated educational environment.

Knowledge: The : student knows and understands:
1. Basic concepts related to the work of a support teacher/special educator.
2. Types of disabilities (physical, intellectual, hearing, visual) and their impact on the educational process.
3. The specifics of functioning of individuals with pervasive developmental disorders.
4. The problems and challenges related to the education of students with various types of disabilities and chronic illnesses.
5. Principles of individual and group work with students with special educational needs (SEN).
6. The role and competencies of the support teacher in the educational process and the principles of collaboration with the leading teacher.

2. Develop and implement individualized educational plans for students with SEN.

3. Make responsible decisions regarding the education and upbringing of students with SEN, considering their well-being and development.
4. Maintain high ethical standards in working with students and their families, demonstrating empathy and understanding for their individual needs.
5. Promote social awareness about the needs of students with disabilities and support attitudes of acceptance and tolerance.
6. Continuously improve their skills and knowledge regarding work with students with special educational needs.

Attendance and active participation in classes, knowledge of assigned readings, a quiz (options: open questions, closed questions, oral answer); the passing threshold is 60%.
