Methodology of education and upbringing of children with intellectual disabilities in preschool 2300-J-PS-MM-WD
This course aims to prepare students to work with children with intellectual disabilities at the preschool stage. During the classes, theoretical and practical issues related to planning, implementing, and evaluating the educational and upbringing process of these children will be discussed. Special attention will be paid to adapting methods and forms of work to the individual developmental needs of the child, considering cognitive, emotional, social, and motor aspects. Students will learn techniques that support the development of children with intellectual disabilities and diagnostic tools that allow for the creation of individual educational and upbringing plans. The course emphasizes the development of competencies in teamwork with parents and other specialists, such as psychologists, special educators, speech therapists, and therapists. Additionally, students will gain knowledge on strategies for working with children with varying degrees of intellectual disabilities, methods to support cognitive, emotional, and social development, and ways to integrate these children into peer groups.

Assessment criteria
Attendance and active participation in classes, knowledge of assigned readings, a quiz (options: open questions, closed questions, oral answer); the passing threshold is 60%.
