Methodology of educating students with mild intellectual disabilities in primary school 2300-J-PS-MM-UL
The course "Methodology of Educating Students with Mild Intellectual Disabilities in Primary School" aims to prepare future teachers for effective work with children who require special support in the educational process. During the classes, students learn the specifics of working with students with mild intellectual disabilities and develop the skills necessary to create and implement individual educational programs tailored to these students' needs.
The program includes both theoretical and practical aspects of teaching, including techniques and methods that support the cognitive, social, and emotional development of students. Students learn how to diagnose the educational and emotional needs of students and how to plan and conduct classes that consider diverse teaching methods, particularly in mathematics, Polish language, and foreign language. A significant element of the course is collaboration with the student's family and other specialists, such as psychologists, speech therapists, and special education teachers, allowing for an integrated approach to education. Students will also gain knowledge about strategies for working with students at various levels of difficulty, methods supporting the development of their social skills, and ways to integrate these students within their peer groups. The course's objective is not only to develop pedagogical competencies but also to foster empathetic attitudes that are open to the needs of students with mild intellectual disabilities, contributing to their better integration in both the school and social environment.
