Collective memory and education 2300-F-PSE
The course's core issues:
- theoretical framework of the notion of the collective memory and related notions (definitions and functions of collective memory, collective memory and collective identity; uses and abuses of collective memory, social oblivion, communities of memory/mnemonic communities, conflicts of memory);
- collective memory research methods;
- analysis of the changes in Polish and Jewish collective memory of common past, including II World War and Holocaust, and related current problems (Auschwitz-Birkenau controversies, debate about Jedwabne);
- socio-educational initiatives and activities in the field of the collective memory of the Polish-Jewish past (Ośrodek Brama Grodzka - Teatr NN, Forum Dialogu Między Narodami, Antyschematy etc).
