Labor law 2200-8P014S
The lecture presents in particular the following issues:
• Concept, subject and systematics of labor law. Employment under labor law and employment under administrative law and civil law
• Employment relationship - statutory definition, properties and legal nature
• Entities (parties) of the employment relationship (employer, transfer of the employment establishment , employee)
• Basic principles of labor law (including the principle of equal treatment in employment and the prohibition of discrimination).
• Sources of labor law (universally binding provisions, collective labor agreements, regulations)
• Basics of establishing an employment relationship. Types of employment contracts. Non-contractual acts establishing an employment relationship (nomination, appointment, election). Components of the content of the employment contract.
• Change and termination of employment (termination of employment contract, termination of employment contract without notice, termination of employment, collective redundancies )
• Working time (concept of working time, overtime work, working time systems), holiday leaves and other leaves in labour law
• Basic rights and obligations of parties to an employment relationship. Additional employment and non-competition
• Material and organizational responsibility of employees
• Basics of collective labor law (trade unions and other employee representations).

Learning outcomes
Students participating in the lecture and exercises:
- understand the subject and functions of labor law
- know and understand the basic institutions of labor law
- can distinguish employment under employment relationships from can distinguish employment regulated by labor law from other forms of employment
- know the legal mechanisms leading to the termination of employment
and understand the protective function of labor law in this aspect
Assessment criteria
The course ends with a written exam (test and open questions).
The rules for passing the tutorials are determined by the class leaders.
