(in Polish) Prawo mediów 2200-1PS047
: Media play a significant role in social life, influencing the attitudes and behaviors of society. Media also provide many people with opportunities to access culture. Changes in the media market, especially the emergence of the Internet and, with it, so-called social media, have meant that, in a sense, we have all become both recipients and creators of media content. This makes issues related to the functioning of the media extremely important and, at the same time, very legally complex.
The following topics, among others, will be discussed during the classes:
1. Freedom and pluralism of the media from the perspective of national and international regulations
2. The principle of freedom of expression
3. The right to information – current challenges and opportunities
4. The right to privacy versus the right to information
5. The duties of journalists in light of the Press Law Act and current legal challenges
6. Hate speech and freedom of expression
7. Combating disinformation
8. Tasks and role of media market regulatory bodies
9. Media platforms – legal problems and attempts to solve them; online media activity
10. Models of distribution of radio and television programs and prospects for further development
11. Social media
12. Internet and TDM
13. SLAPP – as a social phenomenon and attempts to find remedies
