(in Polish) Anti-discrimination law 2200-1PS026-ERA
Anti-discrimination law is, on one hand, a well-established field, but on the other hand it is subject to constant evolution due to the development of regulations and case-law of European and national courts in this area. The political and social changes taking place in European countries, related to the development of modern technologies, also have an impact on anti-discrimination law.
For this reason, during the course students will become familiar not only with established concepts of anti-discrimination law, such as forms of discrimination or permissible exceptions to the prohibition of unequal treatment, but also with the latest case-law and current problems occurring in this area.
Main topics covered by the course programme: sources of European and national anti-discrimination law, the concept of discrimination and its forms, the scope of the prohibition of discrimination in the EU and national law, permissible derogations from the prohibition of unequal treatment, the relationship of the right to equal treatment to other fundamental rights and freedoms, the prohibition of discrimination in the area of the development of modern technologies, sanctions and legal remedies in the event of a violation of the principle of equal treatment.
