1. Introduction to economics: the subject of economics and the method of economic research, positive and normative economics, micro- and macroeconomics, economic laws, needs, goods, services and production.
2. The concept of management. Factors of production, scarcity of resources, alternative cost, rationality and economic calculus.
3. The mechanism of operation of a market economy: the concept of the market, market division, sectors of the economy, types of economies.
4. Market analysis: demand (definition, demand function, factors influencing demand, changes in demand), supply (definition, supply function, supply determinants, supply changes), price (types and functions on the market). Market equilibrium and the process of achieving it, situations of imbalance in the market, the phenomenon of overproduction and shortage. Demand and supply responses to changes in prices and income.
5. Enterprise and economic account.
6. The role of the state in the economy (state interventionism, state budget).
7. Introduction to macroeconomics: main macroeconomic problems, ways and problems of measuring the effects of management on a macro scale.
8. The labor market in a market economy.
9. Human capital.
10. Inflation and unemployment.
11. Foreign trade
12. Money and monetary policy
13. Inflation and anti-inflation policy

Student after graduation:
In terms of knowledge:
- has an in-depth and expanded knowledge of the foundations of the methodology of economic sciences, presentation of the main economic problems of Poland and the world and their place in the social sciences system, and in particular the interaction of the results of the country's market economy; has practical application-oriented knowledge in the economic sphere of activity of a particular citizen, enterprise, country and economy of the European Union. [K_W01].
In terms of skills:
- has the ability to observe and analyze trends in the development of the main micro - and macroeconomic results of the country's economy. Can analyze and describe economic and social processes and phenomena, including those related to the economic sphere in Europe and within European countries. Can analyze the functioning mechanism of the country's economy, especially through the activities of the main control and regulation bodies [K_U01].
In terms of competences:
- is able to correctly interpret and analyze the main macro- and microeconomic results in the modern economy of the country and the whole world. Has a desire to show how to solve economic problems at different levels of the market economy [K_K01].
Assessment criteria
The final grade will be a weighted average of the exercise grade (2/3) and the exam grade (1/3).
30% on the oral exam.
70% results of work during classes (Seminar)
