Diploma Thesis in Socio-Economic Context 2105-M-D1PDWR-ZIP
The point is to familiarize students with the idea of an application diploma thesis, prepared in relation to the socio-economic environment, i.e. in partnership with a company, institution or organization operating outside the ecosystem of the University of Warsaw.
During the course, students will be equipped with knowledge and skills that will allow them to independently formulate the subject of the diploma application as well as identify potential institutional partners who could be interested in cooperation in its implementation.
By reading mini-reportages documenting the experiences of other students and promoters from the University of Warsaw who took part in the process of preparing an application diploma thesis, students also learn about the "kitchen" of preparation for writing and defending a diploma thesis in cooperation with an external partner and the real challenges with which other authors of such works met.
In addition, students will be familiarized with the content of an exemplary tripartite agreement, signed between the student (the author of the thesis), the supervisor (the work supervisor) and the partner (i.e. a selected institution, organization or company). By reading the provisions contained in the contract, students will be prepared to sign similar contracts in the future, also on the non-university path, in the course of professional development.
What's more, during the course, business cards of institutions operating at the University of Warsaw (including the Career Office of the University of Warsaw and the University Center for Technology Transfer) will be presented, whose representatives can provide support to students both in the course of preparing an application diploma thesis and in planning a career development path. and applying for work in partner institutions of the University of Warsaw.
The last part of the course will serve to make students aware of the importance and importance of the so-called "Intellectual property" in the case of scientific papers prepared by them in the course of their studies (including diploma theses), as well as rights that protect them as authors of scientific works (and other effects of their work).
