European cooperation structures 2105-M-D1ESWS
Starting from theoretical framework of all subjects functiong on the international arena (first four lectures), the lecture then is going to detect, in very short way,the significance of the European integration process and the EU as the very specific subject (not being a classical intergovernmental organization, or so). Next, there will be a presentation of big dynamic recently visible on the global scene, with a relative lost of significance of Europe and the EU vis-a-vis emerging markets and in the era of Global Power politics again. Thereafter comes an analysis of the most important organizations and cooperation attempts, starting from Europe. At the final part recently visibly growing Asia-Pacific region is described, within a framework of a new international order which seems to emerge right now (after 2008 and again 2020 pandermic) on the global scene.
Special attention will be paid to this new emerging global orde, not only in the economic sphere, with a focus on euroatlatntic relationship (so called, Trump factor) and growing role of Asia-Pacific and emerging markets on the globe. At the end a first, preliminary reaction to the pandemic of 2020 will be noted, with the assessment of its effect for the EU and its partners.

25/16. EU cooperation with Asia (ASEM) and the most important International organizations in Asia (ASEAN, APEC, TPP 2.0, RCEP, AIIB)

Konwledge:
- To understand the growing role of the European Union on international arena.
Graduate knws and understand the results of recent research results in various, chosen aspects aspects of European studies
- Ability to reckognize, which are the strong points of the EU, and where are the sources of its current problems, crises, and even disfunctional aspects- and why.
- Starting from reality and facts, ability to define the creteria of the EU external actions, as well as its system of values, etc.
Competences:
- Ability to recjkongnize the organization (governmental or NGO), its structure, institutional framework, aims and purposes and thier location within a specific institutional framewrok of the EU.
- Analysis of what is good or bad in functioning of the EU extrenal functioning (institiutional, organizational and value factors, impact of any other subject on arena).
- Reckognition of the organiztation, its qulity and worth both from the point of view of nationa state and cooperating subjects.
- Ability to quickly react on any new initiatives, as well, even more, new challenges towards the integratiopn proecess.
Posture and attitude:
- Proper use of received theoretical knowledge to critical approach to the European integration proceses
- Independence in judgement of the EU external actions, as well as active approach towards its functioning.
- Consciousness of contemporary multipolar and ever-more complicated world where beoynd the nation state there is more and more non-state players, with a crucial role of the EU in this process.
- Ability to have an impact on the world around us, and especially on the European arena full of new challenges, like migration, climate change, brexit, or even axiologiocal crises on domestic scenes of the member states.
- Active use of possesed political rights
Assessment criteria
Lecture. Written exam. Main criteria: attendence on the lecture (participation not obligatory but obligatory knowledge from it).
